The Allegory of the Cave

An excerpt from Plato’s Repub­lic, the ‘Alle­gory of the Cave’ is a clas­sic com­men­tary on the human con­di­tion. It por­trays how real­ity is not always what it appears to be on the sur­face. It is a story about the power of con­di­tion­ing over the power of possibility.

Here’s the ques­tion: Where are you? Chained inside the cave, watch­ing shad­ows reflected on the walls, believ­ing in that ver­sion of “real­ity”? Or out in the light of aware­ness, beck­on­ing to oth­ers to free them­selves and leave their caves?
