I am so thankful for this website. I have known for quite some time that I have some healing work to do in my lineage, and quite honestly felt at times likes I was weird, or like something was REALLY wrong with me. There is a spirit of mental illness/depression in my family, I have to do this work. I am so thankful that others experience this same "calling" so to speak, and I am not alone as I move forward with the healing process. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Dear meshack-maden,

Thanks so much for your comment and for sharing your example about the importance of being honest. You are so spot on when you say that every day we are presented with opportunities to be practice truth-telling. In large and small ways, we're faced with a choice to either stand for what we say we stand for or allow our relationship with honesty to be eroded away, bit by bit.

My experience is that most people profess to value honesty, but far fewer practice it with impeccability. Far more often, we settle for a "gray" version of the truth. Bravo to you for "coming to your senses" and standing for what you know to be honest. What a great example to the young woman!

Many blessings your way,
Judith

Dr. Rich,

Thanks for sharing an awesomely "rich" article packed with grains of truth about the value of being honest. Real honesty as laid out in your article is in short supply. However, we are presented daily with opportunities to model truth and integrity to young women, daughters, and female colleagues who seek us out for guidance and advice.

The decision to engage in truth-telling or a lie recently presented itself when a young woman who I've taken under my wing asked if she could use me as a character reference. I agreed, but apparently lapsed into a truth telling coma when it came to our agreed upon story about just how long I'd known this young women. When I came to my senses, I addressed the matter with my young protege and advised that I would serve as a character reference only if we agreed to stick to the truth as to how long I had known her.

She agreed and we're on the path to sustaining a relationship that values truth above all else. Many of the intangibles that make up character fall into what I perceive as the Gatorade Theory ; "Is it in you?" If it is, it will come out.

I'm meeting this young lady later today with the goal of sharing your article for continued growth in this area.

Peace and blessings to you.
