Have It Happen Anyway: Harnessing Your Power To Create In 2010– Part 6

by Judith Rich on January 14, 2010

We’re already nearing mid-January, 2010.  Before you know it, the first month of the new decade will be in the history books.  Are you on track with your intentions for this new year?  Or have you already “slipped”?  If so, time to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and “get back on the horse”.   You get to have it happen anyway!

Just because you may have gotten off track doesn’t mean the game is over.  Don’t use it as an excuse to give up on yourself and your goals.  Here are some thoughts on how to make the most of your “detour” and get back to the main road.

1)  Consider the possibility that falling off the horse (you lost sight of your vision, you caved in to self-doubt, etc.) is not a detour at all, but rather an opportunity to revisit what you originally intended and get clear about what you’re committed to.

2)  Notice where you stopped.  Notice the point at which your commitment waned.  What was your inner conversation?  What was the inner choir singing?  Take a moment and write down the inner dialogue that persuaded you to  give up on your goal.

3)  Where has this same conversation stopped you before?  Recall other times when you’ve caved in to this same line of thinking.

4)  Ask yourself:  “Is this true?” Is this conversation speaking an essential truth, as in factual, or is this the voice of your ego, attempting to preserve the status quo and keep you “safe”?  Is this your history speaking or are you clear, in this moment, that you are not capable of creating what you’ve declared?  Fact or fiction?

5)  Separating fact from fiction, see the choice before you.  Continue to “buy” into your fictionalize version and stay right where you are.  Or, acknowledge your fear and see it for what it is:  F.E.A.R. = False Evidence Appearing Real and choose again.

6)  Choosing again, where do you choose from?  Ego/Fear/Past or Higher Self/Possibility/Present?  Which choice will best serve to have you get back on track and move ahead?

7)  Choose and have it happen anyway!

Turn down the volume on the fear channel.  Literally, turn down the volume.  Turn down the volume on the chorus singing Lack and Limitation. Simply don’t engage with them.  They can play on quietly in the background if they choose.  You just don’t need to tune in to them.  Turn up the volume on the Hallelujah Chorus that reminds you, Yes, You Can!

Out here in the gap, on your journey from “here” to “there”, you will have endless opportunity to re-commit to and fine tune your vision.  You’ll encounter every inner conversation that still believes you can’t do this.  Everything in you that is invested in maintaining the status quo will arise and ask to be dealt with.  That’s the way it is.

This is your chance to have a different outcome than the one your history dictates.  This is where you turn the corner and leave your past behind.  This is where you strike out down a new road, clearing away all that may obscure and obstruct your way forward.  This is where you learn to stand in the fire of self doubt and burn away all that no longer serves you.

This is where you get to dig in and Have It Happen Anyway.
